I love yoga, the way it makes me feel, the fact that it is a holistic practice that looks after the mind, body and spirit on and off the mat. There are many reasons we chose to practice yoga – physical health, reduce the effects of stress on our lives, to deepen a meditation practice, become more present on a day to day basis. As you may discover yoga provides physical, mental, emotional, energetic and for some spiritual benefits and which benefits you enjoy will depend on your personal intentions for practicing.
My yoga classes are nourishing anatomy based, body awareness led practices that encourage you to listen to your body and work with it to support your health and wellbeing.
The focus is on learning the foundations well, understanding the functionality of the poses (asanas) and how you move in your body. Your body is totally unique to you, no one else looks, sounds like or moves like you and although we all have a skeletal, muscular and nervous system we don’t all move in the same way. It is therefore imperative that you become more aware of how you feel in your body – physically, mentally and emotionally and also how you move in your body in order to be able to improve your mobility, flexibility and stability.
Working with the breath is fundamental and you will learn different techniques to help regulate the nervous system to bring about balance and equilibrium in the body, mind and spirit, which in itself facilitates healing. Yoga is a fully holistic practice that will support you in all aspects of your daily life.
All sessions are taught online, so you can practice in the safety and comfort of your own home.
Sessions are suitable for all levels, whether you are a beginner or wish to advance your practice. Some classes are purposefully slow to leave you relaxed and restored, whilst others are more dynamic increasing your energy levels and vitality.
